Battue Challenge
Sponsored by Cooma Cranes.
The March shoot saw the shoot secretaries in the new office. Not yet completed, all seemed to work well with the internal lining and fit out hopefully all complete before the Easter shoot.
Craig Bottom and I set out last week end to come up with a set out that would consolidate the days shooting in a shorter period of time. We had some success with a different format that saw 2 x ranges, with 4 stations on each. The four stations doubled up to effectively create eight stations on each range. In a bid to get as many traps out as possible (to check there effectiveness for Easter.) we had a good selection of targets and that combined with changed combinations on each round saw what was I think, a great day of varied targets, compressed in to a more manageable time frame.
All grades had their opportunities at stardom, with a good selection of targets that most people hit at some part of the day. As we all know the trick is to try and hit them all in any given round. I can’t speak for the other squads, but Darren Redman came very close in our squad with a very respectful 24.
Being a handicap event it was good to see some new (and old) faces taking out the grades. Special congratulations to Ed Tierney for taking out High Gun. It was well deserved especially when you take into consideration his fantastic efforts upgrading the new sponsor’s board.

As usual there are always many to thank for the day. Craig bottom (Cooma Cranes.) for helping set up and for the sponsorship of the day. Adam Mower for his tireless efforts with the trap shed, the new office, mowing and generally keeping the whole show going. Steve McIntyre for helping with set up on Sunday morning. And of course Robin and Rhonda in the office.
Next shoot is of course the Easter Classic. Friday the 3rd thru Monday 6th April. Lots to do from cleaning sheds, mowing, whipper snipping prepping food to set ups and pack ups.
The “Working Bee” for this will be on Sunday the 29th 9.00 am or thereafter. Please let us know how you would like to contribute to make this one of the best “Classics” yet.
